Inspired equally by the sublime natural beauty of the Wadi Path and the drama of the surrounding red sandstone cliffs, the House of Stone and Water is an architecture extracted from the landscape.

Taking the courtyard typology traditional to the area as a starting point, the residence will seamlessly merge with the narrow, shelf shading pedestrian streets and elevated walkways of the new Dadan Village while still exerting a formal vocabulary appropriate to the place.

Planting and vegetation will make a gentle transition at the edge of the oasis between the natural and constructed worlds.

While the private inner courtyard is a place for contemplation and relaxation open to nature, the private areas of the residence are more dense and abstract, funneling light strategically to the spaces within.

Designed with traditional Dandanite building culture in mind, the residence will be throughly modern in form and function while remaining respectful of the knowldge learned of many generations of inhabitants in the area.
