Live / Work Loft
3,000 Square Feet
In the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of Tribeca, we transformed a 3,000-square-foot artist’s loft into a family home and atelier space for longtime clients Maria McManus and Mark Gibson. As the founder of her eponymous fashion brand and a mother of two young girls, Maria sought a home that could seamlessly integrate her professional and personal lives.
True to the ethos of Maria’s designs—often crafted from vintage and recycled materials—the loft’s original architectural elements were preserved wherever possible. Exposed brick walls and wood ceiling joists were retained, celebrating the space’s industrial heritage. New additions, such as the kitchen and bathrooms, were finished with refined, highly detailed natural materials, including marble and natural brass, creating a thoughtful balance between the raw and the polished.
An atelier space for the client’s fashion brand occupies a portion of the open living room, keeping her connected to the comings and goings of her close knit family.
